Visteon Wins Technology Excellence Award for Head-Up Display
Visteon has claimed its second technology excellence award for an entry-level head-up display (HUD) system developed in India. Following the company’s success at the India Automotive Technology Innovation Awards (IATIA) in December – where both Visteon and its AllGo subsidiary were category winners – Visteon’s India team was once again recognized for its innovative, yet affordable, solution in the “Technology Excellence” category at Auto Components India’s (ACI) award ceremony in Mumbai on Feb. 9.
As one of the leading technical publications in the country, ACI recognized Visteon for its unique adaption of HUD technology for emerging markets, highlighting the solution as particularly innovative in the way it makes advanced technology affordable for mass-market applications.
Visteon’s production-ready solution delivers critical information to the driver cost efficiently through a compact field-of-view and limited color definition. The HUD incorporates a vertically aligned LCD with color diffuser, combiner closure and opening without kinematics and manual tilt adjustment instead of a stepper-based mechanism. Display features include speedometer, turn and fuel gauge indicators, and turn-by-turn navigation.
The technology was developed and delivered by Visteon’s software, hardware and mechanical teams – as well as the design studio – based at the technical centers in Chennai and Pune, India.
The ACI award ceremony was attended by more than 50 key executives from the Indian automotive industry. Amit Jain, India country lead, accepted the award on behalf of Visteon.
